MISSING PEOPLE – Ettelbruck Police are searching for a missing person and asking for assistance. 25-year-old Cédric Fekete was last seen in Ettelbruck last Thursday afternoon. Also, as reported yesterday, there is a missing 15-year-old, Rihanna Nella Pettinato, who was last seen on Thursday, 21 December at 2pm in the City area. TRADITION CHANGE – It seems that we in the Duchy are becoming tired of the traditional Christmas dishes. Fondue Bourguignonne and raclette are expected to be among the most popular dishes on our tables this Christmas, according to Eduardo Eischen, the Assistant Director at La Provençale, confirming that while meat and fish still regularly feature on festive menus, meals that maybe our grandparents used to prepare such as turkey or capon are no longer as popular.

POLICE RECRUITMENT – As part of their recruitment campaign, the Grand Ducal Police posted 200 open positions for their B1 and C1 indemnity groups. A total of 649 people applied to join, with 622 registered to take the exam that gives access to training in the categories advertised, while 27 applied for the test linked to the A1 category. The selection process is set to take place over the coming weeks and months

ATTEMPTED INFILTRATIONUS tech giant Amazon said it has blocked over 1,800 North Koreans from joining the company, as Pyongyang sends large numbers of IT workers overseas to earn and launder funds. In a post on LinkedIn, Amazon’s Chief Security Officer Stephen Schmidt said last week that North Korean workers had been “attempting to secure remote IT jobs with companies worldwide, particularly in the US”.

VENEZUELA PRESSURE President Trump said it would be “smart” for Venezuela’s President Maduro to step down as the US escalates military pressure and an oil blockade, prompting defiant responses from Caracas and firm diplomatic backing from Russia.

REPORT DROPPED The leadership of CBS News is facing accusations of political meddling over a last-minute decision to not air a report on the notorious Salvadoran prison where US President Donald Trump has sent deported migrants. The report on the alleged abuses at the CECOT center in El Salvador had been due to air late Sunday on its flagship “60 Minutes” programme, but the broadcaster pulled it, quietly, just hours before.

FULHAM WIN Fulham climbed away from the Premier League relegation zone and left Nottingham Forest mired in the fight for survival after Raul Jimenez’s penalty sealed a 1-0 win on Monday. Marco Silva’s side started the day just two points above fourth-from bottom Forest, but Jimenez’s first-half goal at Craven Cottage moved them 10 points clear of the bottom three.

MVP SCORCHER Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 31 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder got back to winning ways with a 119-103 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies yesterday. The reigning NBA Most Valuable Player led the scoring to give the Thunder a morale-boosting victory after their defeat in Minnesota last Friday.

CUMMINS OUT Australia skipper Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon have been ruled out of the final two Ashes Tests against England with the veteran spinner facing surgery and an extended period on the sidelines. Quick bowler Jhye Richardson and spinner Todd Murphy were named as cover in a 15-man squad for the fourth Test starting on Friday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
