A 26-year-old man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, as well as failing to stop and report an accident, driving under the influence of alcohol, and failing to assist a person in danger. He is currently being held in pre-trial detention after appearing before a judge on Monday morning. The man was arrested on Sunday following a hit-and-run in Kayl in the early hours of the morning, leaving a 16-year-old boy with injuries so severe, he later succumbed in hospital.

An autopsy has been ordered for the teenage victim.

In a press release, the public prosecutor's office underlined the gravity of the offences committed by the accused, above all due to his failure to stop after the collision and his lack of concern for the victim.

Trump promises to double Canada's tariff's to 50% from 1st January 2027

• US President Donald Trump said Monday that he would double tariffs on Canadian vehicles beginning next year, as the neighboring countries spiral towards an escalating trade war. "On January First, 2027, Tariffs on all Cars, Trucks, both large and small, Automotive Parts, and Steel, will be increased to 50%," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
  
• The current US tariff impacting Canadian autos stands at 25 percent for non-US content, while imported steel to the United States generally faces a 50-percent duty. US automakers did not immediately respond to queries on the matter.
