The city is prepared for this eventuality and has been working on a concept for weeks, Thomas Schmitt, Trier’s director of public policy, told Südwestrundfunk (SWR).

According to his statement, plans are in place to allow for up to 5,000 corona vaccine doses to be administered in a twelve-hour operation, i.e. at full capacity.

The health department in Trier is currently examining which refrigeration units are best suited for keeping on site, reports the SWR.

The other crucial factor in any developmental plan is to clarify which and how many medical personnel are needed for covering various scenarios.

It has been confirmed that here will be a total of 36 “vaccination centres” across Rheinland-Pfalz.
