Rheinland-Pfalz Interior Minister Roger Lewentz delivered a statement on Wednesday 9 December revealing that a week after the city was shocked by a horrific act, three people are still in mortal danger.
Five more of those injured are still receiving hospital treatment, the Interior Minister detailed before the Interior Committee in Mainz on Wednesday.
Regarding the status of the current investigation, Lewentz said that “everything continues to point to the act of a lone perpetrator”.
A special police commission is now reconstructing the details of the brutal rampage, such as the exact route taken by the perpetrator and also the sequence of the killings and injuries. Lewentz emphasized that several dozen references from witness statements will be addressed in the investigation process.
The 51-year-old perpetrator’s rampage on Tuesday 1 December cost five people their lives, including a nine-week-old baby.
An arrest warrant has been issued against the perpetrator for five murders.
