The weekend’s glimmer of hope has quickly vanished. The regional health agency of the Grand Est region confirmed a new rise in cases on Monday: 4,801 patients were admitted, 62 more than the previous day.
Nonetheless, the number of patients under intensive care continues to decline: 937, meaning 13 fewer cases than the day before.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, 375 people have been released from hospitals, with their state being described as “reassuring”.
The total number of fatalities amounts to 1,574, of which 795 have been from the Alsace region.
