Starting with Luxembourg

  • [block type="summary”]The latest figures from the Ministry of Health show that 613 new cases of coronavirus were discovered yesterday. Three deaths were also recorded.

    • [block type="summary”]RTL reported on a fantastic new initiative from one clubhouse in Hepperdange, which has provided tablets to senior citizens living alone so that they can stay in touch with their loved ones.

      And from abroad

      • In Washington, DC, loyal supporters of Donald Trump marched to contest the recent presidential election results. The march followed Trump’s first public appearance in a week yesterday at the White House’s Rose Garden, where he heralded the imminent authorization of a coronavirus vaccine.

      • Trump’s optimism came amidst reports that rising Covid-19 cases would jeopardize US growth. Covid-19 has come roaring back and is likely to inflict further damage on the American economy, which will take years to recover to its robust pre-pandemic status.

      • In other US news, New York raced to cut off a second wave of coronavirus infections by closing bars and clubs. The State Governor warned that schools could move to online only teaching as early as Monday.

      • [block type="summary”]Meanwhile - and despite Trump’s vaccine optimism - a top WHO expert warned in an interview with AFP that public distrust risked rendering even the most effective treatments useless against the pandemic.
