The illegal party on Saturday night involved some fifty people. In light of the current Covid-19 restrictions it was unlawful and duly disbanded by the police, according to the public prosecutor’s office.
Originally the police thought some 20 people were gathered at the location. When they were permitted to enter the premises, officers discovered some 50 people, all from France, according to Sudpresse. Each participant was fined 250€ on the spot. The owner of the house was called in by the police and an investigation has been launched into the incident.
According to Sudpresse, the occasion of the party was the birthday of a female French participant. When police entered several people were naked. Some of them were escorts. Laughing gas was also discovered at the scene.
Another party in Eupen
Police from Vesdre-Gueule disbanded another so-called lockdown party in Eupen at 5am on Sunday morning. When they arrived at the flat, they discovered that the music was excessively loud, that a lot of alcohol had been consumed and that none of the participants were wearing a face covering.
The tenant was cooperative, however. Eight written reports of proceedings were compiled. Participants were between 18 and 19-years-old, most of them from the Eupen area, according to police sources. Four more people received a warning for breaking the curfew.
