A man in his eighties was arrested in Ars-sur-Moselle, south of Metz, on Saturday. He was taken to a psychiatric ward after the body of his wife was discovered at their home, according to reports from the Metz public prosecutor’s office.
The 84 year old victim was found to have died in violent conditions, said the Républicain Lorrain, which also reported she had been ill.
The prosecutor’s report suggested the death had occurred after a domestic dispute. An autopsy is to be carried out later this week and an investigation is underway.
