Private gatherings are limited to one’s own family and one other house with a maximum of five guests. Children under the age of 14 are not included in this number.

Mandatory mask-wearing applies outdoors in places where people meet in a confined space.

There is also a mask requirement at the workplace if a minimum distance of 1.50 metres cannot be observed.

In shops and stores with a sales area of up to 800 square metres, a maximum of one person per 10 square metres of space may be admitted.

For larger shops with more than 800 square metres, a maximum of one person per 20 square metres may be allowed.

In retirement and nursing homes visitor rules are being tightened. Only one visitor per day is allowed to visit the resident of a nursing home. Two visitors per day are only allowed if they come from the same household. Visitors must also wear an FFP2 mask all the time during the visit.

A so-called rapid test is to be carried out once a week for all employees, including in the non-nursing sector.

If the incidence of infection is above the national average in the county or region where the home is located, there should be two tests per week.

The partial lockdown, which has been in place since November, will continue with closed restaurants, gyms and cultural facilities.

In mid-December, a decision will be taken on a new Corona regulation with specific rules for the period until after New Year’s Eve.

It is thought it will make provisions to allow up to ten people to meet a household with non-household members or non-household members from 23 December to 1 January.

Children up to the age of 14 should not be included.
