
HOSPITAL BRONCHIOLITIS - The Kannerklinik, the children’s hospital at CHL as well as the Robert Schumann hospital in Luxembourg have reached their limits and launched emergency measures for treating young patients for bronchiolitis. Around 30 young patients are suffering from the respiratory virus.
DNA MATCH - The public prosecutor’s office in Diekirch has confirmed that the body parts found in Germany were those of Diana Santos, who was found dead in Mont-Saint-Martin in France.The link to Luxembourg has been established. The human body parts found in Temmels on the 1 November match the DNA taken from Diana Santos, whose body was found in September in France.
POLAND MISSILE - The Polish government has appealed for calm after 2 people were killed by a missile that landed near the border with Ukraine. President Andrzej Duda said the missile was most likely Russian-made, but it was not clear who had launched it. Poland has placed some of its military units on heightened alert. President Duda urged people to wait until investigations have taken place. Russia has denied any involvement.
After a meeting with other NATO leaders at the G20 summit in Indonesia, the US President Joe Biden expressed his support for Warsaw. He said that they would figure out exactly what happened and then collectively determine next steps. The blast in Poland was proceeded by missile attacks across Ukraine that have left a fifth of Ukrainians without power. President Zelensky said emergency repairs have restored power to 8 million residents

ARTEMIS LAUNCH - NASA is about launch its new mega Moon rocket from Florida this morning. The Artemis 1 mission, a test flight without astronauts, represents the first step in America’s plan to build a lasting presence on the Moon and take lessons from there to prepare for a future voyage to Mars in the 2030s. It will be the first launch of the 32-story tall Space Launch System rocket, the most powerful ever built. The launch was scheduled at 1:04 local time (07:04 our time) but at time of writing has been delayed within the planned 30-minute window.
WORLD CUP ARRIVALS - England and the Netherlands became the first World Cup heavyweights to touch down in Qatar yesterday as FIFA president Gianni Infantino again urged teams to focus on the football. Gareth Southgate’s England side, spearheaded by striker Harry Kane, are seeking to become world champions for just the second time after crashing out in the semi-finals four years ago in Russia. The Netherlands, whose outspoken coach Louis van Gaal has not hidden his opinion that Qatar should never have been allowed to host the World Cup, also arrived.The Dutch were runners-up in 2010 and finished third four years later but did not qualify for the 2018 tournament in Russia.Defending champions France and two-time World Cup winners Argentina are due to arrive in Qatar today.
RUGBY AUTUMN NATIONS - New Zealand hooker Codie Taylor has insisted the All Blacks’ dramatic 2019 World Cup semi-final defeat by England will count for little at Twickenham on Saturday. Taylor was in the All Blacks’ starting XV when England ended New Zealand’s eight-year reign as world champions with a decisive 19-7 win in Yokohama. This weekend’s Autumn Nations Series international will be the first time the two sides have met since that memorable night in Japan.
