SaarlandMinister President criticises Luxembourg for easing restrictions

RTL Today
Tobias Hans (CDU), minister president of Saarland, called the loosening of restrictions “irresponsible”.

“In all honesty, I find it irresponsible to ease restrictions when infections are still this high”, said Tobias Hans in an interview with “SR”.

On Tuesday, the Luxembourgish government announced that retail, cultural and leisure activities would be allowed to resume under certain conditions. The curfew has been pushed back by two hours, lasting from 11PM to 6AM. Pupils are allowed to go back into school as well. However, the Horesca sector remains closed and social distancing measures remain in place.

On the same day, Germany decided to go in the opposite direction. Current restrictions were extended until 31 January and social distancing rules were tightened, with only contacts allowed within the same household and/or with one additional person who does not live within that bubble. Previously, up to 5 people from two different households were allowed to meet. These restrictions apply to Saarland too.
