According to local media, the fatal incident occurred in Pragadavaram village in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. The victim was a 55-year-old man.
One of the organisers of the illegal cockfight was reportedly holding one of the roosters, which had razor blades tied to its limbs. The bird managed to escape his grip and lashed out, inflicting a deep wound on the 55-year-old bystander.
Cockfights were banned by the Indian Supreme Court in 1960 but the practice remains popular in some areas, especially on festival days.
