In Loir-et-Cher - a department located in the centre of France, between Tours and Orléans - a lorry driver was filmed on 4 December dangerously overtaking another truck on a secondary road.
The man overtook the lorry in front of him by driving down the opposite lane on a two-way road, despite the presence of a solid central reservation separating the two lanes. His lane change forced many vehicles to pull over to the side of the road, causing some of them to crash, in order to avoid a collision.
This insane manoeuvre, which lasted almost a minute and was filmed by the “overtaken” lorry, has gone viral on social media platforms for the past few days. According to the newspaper “La République du Centre”, the video and the danger of the driver’s manoeuvre were so shocking that the transport company, based in the Czech Republic, has apologised for the actions of its employee.
An investigation has been opened by the French authorities.
