
According to information on German site Lokalo.de, a spokesman for the Fire Department said that “the tank tore open and diesel leaked onto the motorway.”
Around 20 emergency service crew had been on site at around 1.30 am, primarily to carry out “removal operations on the truck”.
Some 200 litres of diesel leaked from the container.
Clean-up work and removal measures meant that the lanes had to be partially closed, with the estimated total damage set at approximately €40,000.
The Trier’s fire brigade, the Schweich motorway maintenance facility and the Schweich police motorway patrol were called to the scene action.
