
HAMAS PROTEST - Luxembourg’s Jewish community remembered the victims of the Hamas terror on Place Clairefontaines in Luxembourg city last night. They commemorated the 1,400 people that were killed by Hamas on October 7, as well as the 240 hostages, that are being held. The President of the Consistoire Israelite, Albert Af-lalo said that the hostages are not spoken about, no one knows how they are doing. For this reason, the Jewish community and its supporters held up signs with the photos and names of every person who has been kidnapped by Hamas.
COALITION NEGOTIATIONS - Luc Frieden, who has been tasked with forming a new government, held a meeting with Grand Duke Henri yesterday to brief him on the progress of the coalition negotiations. During this 90-minute encounter, Frieden presented an overview of the talks to Luxembourg’s head of state. A coalition agreement could be reached by the end of next week.
FUEL PRICES - Petrol and diesel prices have gone down since midnight. Unleaded 95 petrol has dropped by 3.1 cents per litre, now costing 1.55 euros per litre. The price for 98 petrol has gone down to 1.77 per litre. Diesel will be 3.7 cents cheaper and will cost 1.58 euros per litre from today. The price of heating oil has also been reduced.
GAZA AID CONFERENCE - A humanitarian conference on the situation in Gaza is being held in Paris this morning. French President Emmanuel Macron has invited heads of state and governments, including Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas is attending, as is the head of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen. No representative from Israel is expected to attend.
ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR - So far, there is still no prospect of a longer ceasefire in Gaza. Israel has rejected them, at least as long as Hamas is still holding hostages. Residents from the north of Gaza are being told to flee to the south again today. According to the Israeli military, a humanitarian corridor will be set up. In Gaza City, the offensive is continuing intensively, both on the ground and with new airstrikes.

REICH POGROM ANNIVERSARY - A ceremony marking the 85th anniversary of the Reich Pogrom is taking place in Berlin this morning. German chancellor Olaf Scholz as well as the President of the Central Council of Jews, Josef Schuster will make speeches in the Beth Zion synagogue. In the night of the 9-10 November 1938, thousands of Jewish shops and synagogues were destroyed and an estimated 1300 Jewish people were killed.
META AI - Meta has said that advertisers will soon have to disclose when artificial intelligence (AI) or other software is used to create or alter fake or realistic people or events. The requirement will take effect globally at Facebook and Instagram at the start of next year.
MICHELANGELO SKETCHES - Sketches drawn on the walls of a small room in Florence by Renaissance artist Michelangelo are going on show for the first time. Charcoal figures run along the sides of the room, a former coal cellar which will open to the public from November 15. Small groups of a maximum of four people will be allowed in at a time, with pauses in between each visit to limit the time the sketches are exposed to LED light.
FOOTBALL - Real Madrid and Bayern Munich were among the clubs to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League with two group games to spare last night, while Manchester United’s poor form continued as they slipped to a stunning 4-3 defeat against FC Copenhagen.
Last season’s runners-up Inter Milan and Real Sociedad also secured their tickets for the knockout phase, joining holders Manchester City and RB Leipzig in advancing to the last 16. Madrid, the record 14-time European champions, made sure of their progress from Group C with a 3-0 home win over Braga after surviving an injury setback just before kick-off.
BASEBALL - Ron Washington, who guided the Texas Rangers to two World Series appearances, has been hired as the manager of the Los Angeles Angels. The 71-year-old American signed a two-year contract through 2025 to replace Phil Nevin, who the team dropped after the Angels went 73-89 this year, missing the playoffs for the ninth consecutive season.
