The CSV politician spent an hour and a half with the Grand Duke, during which he provided details regarding the ongoing negotiations between the CSV and the DP in forming a new coalition government.
Frieden briefly spoke to the media following his visit to the palace - his second audience with the monarch since being appointed formateur following the 8 October elections.
The coalition agreement could be confirmed by the end of next week, Frieden reiterated, as the distribution of ministerial posts was due to be discussed after the weekend. Negotiations have been underway at Senningen Castle for almost a month.
Coalition discussions are suspended on Thursday as the head of the DP delegation, Xavier Bettel, is participating in an international conference in Paris on the situation in the Middle East. The two partners of the future government coalition are due to meet once more on Friday.
