On Saturday, the firefighters of Meurthe-et-Moselle worked for almost four hours to free Melba, a young dog stuck in a pipeline since Friday at the plateau de Haye, near Nancy.

As the access to the pipeline was blocked by a pile of earth, firefighters specialising in clearing operations were mobilised to create a new opening across the road. The roads, dating back to the old NATO bases, were considered extremely solid, said one of the fire fighters.

After four hours, a dozen firefighters were able to free Melba. The latter promptly received a bowl of kibble and water, as she had been unable to eat or drink for 24 hours.
