CelebrationsDutch government bans New Year's fireworks due to pandemic

RTL Today
Not adhering to the rules could cost you a minimum fine of €100 and an entry into your criminal record.

In an attempt to curb the spread of the virus the Dutch government has banned the use of fireworks this New Year’s Eve. This will also ease the pressure on hospitals and care staff, as last year 1300 accidents and hospitalisations were reported, of which 400 in intensive care.

Financial compensation of €40 million will be made available to the fireworks industry. Fireworks in stock are allowed to be kept until next year.
