
A man in his early twenties presented himself to police on Thursday, two days after the fatal accident on the A31 near Metz.
The individual told police he was the driver of the BMW which caused the accident after driving into the back of a Volkswagen Polo, killing an 18 year old man. The driver, a resident of Maizières-lès-Metz, fled after the accident, while two of his passengers remained at the scene.
He was taken into custody on Tuesday and could face charges of manslaughter, hit and run, involuntary injuries and alcohol/drug consumption, according to the Républicain Lorrain.
