The dog attacked her when she was taking pictures with the pet. The 17-year-old shared a series of photos on Twitter detailing how the shoot went wrong. The images show the teenager posing with the dog, which at first sits calmly next to her before turning around and biting her face.
The 17-year-old had to undergo a two-hour surgery and needed 40 stitches inside her mouth and around her face. “I do not know if I touched its hip or if it reacted like this because it is old, or it was because I hugged it and scared it,” she said, adding that she does not think that the dog meant to hurt her.
The photo series was widely shared on social media with some users pointing out that it can be dangerous to hug a dog from the neck as that might trigger the animal’s instinct to defend the most vulnerable part of its body.
