Doubts are already growing in Germany as to whether the current Covid restrictions for the holidays can be softened.

The German Association of Towns and Municipalities, which represents the interest of the 14,000 communes in the country, has raised concerns for easing restrictions during the festive period. It were imperative to analyse the figures until shortly beforehand, and then to evaluate them.

With Schleswig-Holstein on Sunday evening being the last German state to be categorised as risk area, all of Germany, according to the Robert Koch Institute’s definition, is considered a risk area.

The State of Bayern would like to react from Wednesday onwards, and will once again tighten measures. This was confirmed by Prime Minister Markus Söder on Sunday evening. The state of emergency applies, and for some cities and regions a curfew remains in place at night.

In Bavaria no more alcohol is allowed to be consumed outside.
