It suggests, on one hand, a strong anticyclone coming from the Azores and stretching throughout occidental Europe, and on the other hand a more hollow than usual depression from Iceland, which leads related disruptions and winds towards the north of the continent, in a reinforced eastern atmospheric circulation.
A recent monthly forecast for February confirms this general scheme for the beginning of the period. It also foresees a particularly raised medium pressure in occidental Europe.
