In summary, the end of winter and start of spring are to be expected, with higher-than-average temperatures for this time of year.

Rainfall in the Mediterranean region will be less frequent than usual. In between, including Luxembourg, we will most likely also experience fewer rain showers.

The seasonal forecast continues in the same fashion as previous ones. It suggests, on one hand, a strong anticyclone coming from the Azores and stretching throughout occidental Europe, and on the other hand a more hollow than usual depression from Iceland, which leads related disruptions and winds towards the north of the continent, in a reinforced eastern atmospheric circulation.

A recent monthly forecast for February confirms this general scheme for the beginning of the period. It also foresees a particularly raised medium pressure in occidental Europe.

On a global level, the strong oceanic influence is mild. The likelihood of a warmer-than-average term across Europe is rather high.
