YELLOW ALERT – Meteolux has issued a yellow alert for wind, from 6am today until midnight, with gusts of up to 85km/h forecast during the day and the possibility of stronger winds later in the afternoon/evening. Meteolux has also advised of a risk of aquaplaning, so take extra care on the roads.

BURGLARY SUSPECTS – A burglary occurred in Hellange last night, at around 8pm, with three suspects on the run. Multiple patrol units are searching the surrounding area in an effort to locate them. BIRD FLU – Luxembourg authorities have ordered all poultry to be kept indoors after confirming two cases of avian flu in wild cranes in Howald and Rumelange. Mandatory measures include indoor feeding and watering, with outdoor areas requiring full netting protection. Farmers must immediately report unusual deaths or symptoms. Authorities stress the virus poses no risk to public health through the consumption of eggs or meat.

ISRAEL EUROVISIONLuxembourg will not support excluding Israel from next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. Ministers Xavier Bettel, Eric Thill, and Elisabeth Margue say cultural events must remain separate from geopolitical tensions. The decision puts Luxembourg at odds with Spain, Ireland, Iceland, Slovenia, and the Netherlands, which have pledged to boycott if Israel competes.

MOTORWAY CLOSURE – The A3 motorway will be completely closed in both directions between Gasperich and Bettembourg from Friday evening at 8pm until Monday morning at 4am. The closure is part of the A3 expansion project, scheduled over the weekend to reduce weekday disruption. Diversions will route traffic through Esch-sur-Alzette and the A4. Significant delays are expected from Friday afternoon.

TRUMP RUSSIA SANCTIONS – President Trump has slapped sanctions on Russia's two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil, after peace talks with Vladimir Putin collapsed. The move follows a Russian missile assault that killed seven people in Ukraine, including two children, and hit a kindergarten.

EU SUMMIT  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy heads to Brussels today for an EU summit, calling Donald Trump's ceasefire proposal along current frontlines "a good compromise." EU leaders are expected to address Ukraine's defence needs, the Middle East, the EU’s defence readiness roadmap 2030, hybrid threats and migration. In addition, EU states agreed to toughen sanctions against Russia shortly before the summit. The plans include further reducing Russian revenues from the sale of gas and oil.

MIGRANT DEATHS – Forty migrants, including infants, have been found dead following a shipwreck off Tunisia, with thirty others rescued. Authorities say all seventy people on board were from sub-Saharan Africa, attempting the dangerous Mediterranean crossing to Europe. Tunisia remains a key transit point for migrants, with over 55,000 arrivals reaching Italy so far this year.

RUGBY – The French rugby federation have announced that scrum-halves Nolann Le Garrec, Maxime Lucu and Baptiste Jauneau will compete to replace injured France captain Antoine Dupont for next month's Autumn Nations Series. Superstar Dupont is set to be sidelined until December with a knee injury suffered in March and will miss games against South Africa on November 8, Fiji on November 15 and Australia on November 22.
