A Lithuanian national wanted on a European Arrest Warrant for a high-value car theft scheme was handed over to German authorities by Luxembourg police on Monday.
On Monday morning, Luxembourg police handed over a 28-year-old Lithuanian national to German authorities at the Wasserbillig border. The transfer was executed under a European Arrest Warrant.
The individual is wanted in connection with two separate German cases. The first is an investigative warrant for a series of high-value thefts. He is suspected, along with an accomplice, of stealing four BMW X5 and X6 vehicles valued at over €160,000 near Nuremberg, between January and March 2023.
The second warrant is for enforcement. The man had previously been sentenced to two years and three months in prison by a court in Weiden, Upper Palatinate, for theft. After serving only a few months, he was deported to Lithuania and banned from re-entering Germany until 2031.
Following the handover to the Trier Federal Police, he will now be returned to Germany to serve the remainder of his prison sentence.
