After Wednesday's hectic day on Luxembourg's railways, passengers face further disruption on Thursday as strike action in France spills over into cross-border traffic, the Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) has warned.

A nationwide strike is planned in France on Thursday, 2 October. While authorities expect around 30% fewer participants than during the 18 September strike, up to 350,000 people could take part in some 250 demonstrations across France.

Nonetheless, CFL warns that rail traffic between France and Luxembourg will be disrupted in both directions.

As per the latest details, "regional trains on the Luxembourg–Thionville–Metz line will be the most affected. For now, TGV services on this route are expected to run normally, while the Luxembourg–Bascharage–Sanem–Rodange–Longwy line should not be impacted," the CFL states.

Despite these warnings, cancellations and delays remain possible across the entire cross-border network, according to the CFL. Passengers are therefore advised to consult www.cfl.lu before travelling.
