The body of Agathe Hilairet, a French woman who had been reported missing since 10 April, was found in the shrubbery not far from the place where the searches had taken place weeks before.
The young woman had been the subject of a large-scale search operation in Vivonne, in France's Vienne region, since she disappeared on 10 April. The search was called off a week later. Agathe Hilairet regularly jogged along the route investigated by the police, and that had also been the case on April 10, when she left her parents' house to go for a run. When she didn't return nor replied to his calls, the concerned father sounded the alert. Since then, there had been no trace of Agathe.
On Monday, 5 May, French authorities revealed that Hilairet’s body had been found the day before. Details about the circumstances of her death are still lacking.
The body was found on Sunday underneath low shrubbery in a wooded area just outside the previous search perimeter, according to the Poitiers public prosecutor's office. "The autopsy has not yet been able to determine the cause of death. A number of additional analyses are still underway," said Prosecutor Cyril Lacombe in a statement. It is unclear whether a violent crime occurred.
