The project, which focuses on a bridge spanning the Orne River near Richemont, will last five months, causing multiple road closures. The nearby A30 will also be affected.
According to DIR Est, the bridge – located just before the Fensch Triangle – is in poor condition. Issues include damaged road joints, a faulty waterproofing system, and worn-out bearings. To address these, an extensive repair project is planned, with additional minor works carried out simultaneously.

The work will be carried out in three stages:
Despite the closures, DIR Est assures that daytime traffic on the A31 will remain mostly unaffected. However, overnight closures and weekend disruptions will be unavoidable:
During Phase 2: The A31 will be fully closed between Mondelange and Bertrange. The A30 will be blocked from the Uckange interchange.

Weekend closures will extend the blockages from Bertrange to the Croix de Hauconcourt on the A31, and from Uckange on the A30.

Diversions will direct traffic via the RN52 or RD1, running parallel to the motorway.

During Phase 3: The A31 will again be closed between Bertrange and Mondelange.
The A30 will be blocked from Fameck to Mondelange. A weekend closure in July will extend the shutdowns further.

Overnight closures will generally run from 9pm to 5am. DIR Est will provide updated schedules closer to the affected dates.
