VIOLENT ATTACKS IN CITY CENTER A violent theft was reported near Place de Paris in the City centre on Saturday night. Suspects attempted to steal a bag, but only successfully stole a watch after pushing one of the victims to the ground. An investigation is currently underway. Two more thefts were reported in the city center on the weekend. 

VIANDEN WITNESS APPEAL – Authorities are looking for two fugitives after they successfully broke into a residence in the Vianden municipality.The police are asking witnesses to report suspicious people and not to pick up any hitchhikers.

GIVENCH PRISON – In response to a parliamentary question and the November attacks by an inmate on a guard, further details about the prison have emerged. The semi-open prison aims for rehabilitation by incorporating working within Luxembourg or the Greater Region.

POVERTY IN LUXEMBOURG – According to Eurostat, Luxembourg recorded a poverty rate of 18.8% in 2023, one of the highest in Europe. The Luxembourg Chamber of Employees recently highlighted that the country's minimum pension also falls below this threshold, and that one in seven employees in Luxembourg is considered poor.
