KNIFE THREAT - Shortly before 6pm on Saturday, a resident on rue Jean Aveugle was threatened with a knife by a neighbour. The police were called to the scene and found the aggressor in his apartment. When questioned, he also reacted aggressively towards the officers. He was then handcuffed for safety reasons. He did not want to show the police the knife with which he had threatened the neighbour, so the agents proceeded to search the apartment until they found the knife. ISRAEL/GAZA - Intense urban combat has enveloped Gaza City's Al-Shifa hospital amid a devastating Israeli ground offensive, trapping thousands in perilous conditions and leading to urgent calls for the evacuation of vulnerable patients, including newborns, from the besieged medical facility. Youssef Abu Rish, deputy health minister in the Hamas government, on Sunday said three more premature babies had died along with six other patients who had been in critical condition. Across Gaza City at the Al-Quds hospital the picture was also said to be dire, with the Palestinian Red Crescent warning it was now out of service due to lack of generator fuel. Twenty of Gaza's 36 hospitals are "no longer functioning", according to the UN's humanitarian agency.
FRENCH MARCHES - More than 180,000 people turned out on Sunday to march against antisemitism in France, after a surge in anti-Jewish incidents across the country in the wake of the Israel-Hamas conflict. Police said 105,000 people had joined the Paris march, while interior ministry figures put the nationwide figure at 182,000.
CATALAN AMNESTY - Tens of thousands of Spaniards rallied nationwide on Sunday, answering a call by right-wing parties to protest after the Socialist government offered an amnesty to the Catalan separatists behind a failed 2017 declaration of independence. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez offered the amnesty in order to shore up support needed to form a new government in a deeply politically divided country. But the gambit has sparked anger on the right, causing a huge political crisis, with marchers gathering in 52 major cities across the country to show opposition to the plan.

The Nairobi meeting is the third of five sessions in a fast-tracked process aiming to conclude negotiations next year so that the treaty can be adopted by mid-2025.
