COALITION TALKS - The coalition negotiations are set to continue for the first half of next week, as the CSV and the DP seek to establish a new government. A press conference has been scheduled to take place on Monday afternoon.
HOMELESS REFUGEES - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Jean Asselborn has spoken to RTL about the situation of male refugees in Luxembourg who are alone and have already applied for asylum in another EU country. They are no longer being accepted in emergency refugee accommodations and have to go on a waiting list. Some have ended up on the streets and an informal camp has sprung up under Pont Adolphe. A decision for which the Foreign Minister is being sharply criticized by the Refugee Council. According to Minister Asselborn, the shelters are full and said "If we don't react, we will go to the wall."
MOTORIST LAWS - New laws for motorists have gone into effect. Fines for using mobile phones whilst driving increase to €250, and offenders could lose four points on their licence. There are also changes to the screening process for drugs and reserving a personalised number plate now costs four times as much as it used to, as prices soar to €200.
GENERATORS FOR UKRAINE - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Luxembourg is set to donate 100 generators to Ukraine, worth €335,000, in the coming weeks.The first 40 generators were shipped on Thursday, with the remainder to follow over the next few weeks.

ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR - UN-mandated human rights experts said that they believe the Palestinians in Gaza are at grave risk of genocide and that time is running out to prevent it. Special rapporteurs allege that Israel was planning to decimate the Gaza Strip. Israel in turn accused UN experts of repeating Hamas propaganda.
Israel says its army has completely encircled Gaza city and is engaged in face-to-face battles with Hamas fighters. Combat is taking place in a dense area. Meanwhile the Israeli security cabinet has announced it will return Gazans working in Israel to the besieged Palestinian territory.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is visiting Israel again today. During talks with the Israeli government in Tel Aviv, he wants to once again assure the country of the support of the United States in the war.

STORM CIARAN - Ten people have been killed as Storm Ciaran battered Western Europe, bringing record winds as high as 200 kilometres per hour, floods, blackouts and major travel disruption. In the Belgian city of Ghent, a five-year-old Ukrainian boy and a 64-year-old woman were killed by falling branches. Falling trees had earlier killed a lorry driver in his vehicle in northern France, and a man fell from his balcony in the port city of Le Havre. A man in the Dutch town of Venray, a woman in central Madrid and a person in Germany also died.
CRYPTO VERDICT - Sam Bankman-Fried, the one-time cryptocurrency golden boy accused by US prosecutors of stealing billions of dollars of his customers' money, was found guilty on Thursday on all counts, and now faces up to 110 years behind bars. Sentencing will take place at a later date.
AI SAFETY SUMMIT - Speaking at the end of a summit on AI safety, Elon Musk likened Artificial Intelligence to a genie, able to do anything. But he also warned of humanoid robots, that in his words, could chase you anywhere and might turn against us.

FOOTBALL - Tonight is the start of the 10th matchday in the Bundesliga. Darmstadt plays against Bochum. And tomorrow evening it’s a classic match: Dortmund against Bayern.
FORMULA 1 - The Sao Paulo Grand Prix gets underway this weekend, the final part of a triple-header featuring Austin and Mexico City. Max Verstappen comes into this weekend’s race off the back of winning the last four races, as the three-time champion looks to extend his record for the most wins in a single season.
RUGBY - The Rugby World Cup-winning Springboks have started a four-day homecoming tour in Pretoria, with President Cyril Ramaphosa hailing the team for uniting a country with a divisive past. The players were greeted by thousands of dancing people who lined the streets to cheer a team that has captured the hearts of a nation but was once reviled as a symbol of apartheid.

In a preview for winter, it will feel noticeably colder than recent days, with morning temperatures ranging from 3-7°C and afternoon temperatures between 6-9°C. Cloud cover is expected to be extensive throughout the day, with a few timid breaks of sunshine possible in the afternoon. There is a chance of scattered rain in the morning. Light winds of 10-20 km/h, with potential morning gusts of 40-50 km/h.
