FATAL ACCIDENT - There was a fatal traffic accident yesterday afternoon at the Boukelser Millen. A motorcyclist had come off the road and ran into a rock. All help came too late for the 28-year-old woman, who died at the scene. The road was closed for several hours while the police clarified the exact circumstances of the accident.

ING MARATHON - Tomorrow in two weeks, Luxembourg’s night marathon will take place. Yesterday, organisers presented the details of the 16th edition, and announced that more than 13,000 runners have already registered. The course is roughly the same as before – the full and half marathon separate at the Knuedler, as usual. There will also be at 56 hotspots, with musicians ensuring great moods.

SERBIA SHOOTING - A gunman has opened fire from a moving vehicle in Serbia, killing at least 8 people in the country’s second mass shooting in as many days. Several other people were injured in the incident in Mladenovac, 60km south of the capital Belgrade. On Wednesday, a teenager in Belgrade killed 8 fellow pupils at his school and a security guard. The Serbian government is now proposing tighter restrictions on gun ownership.

BELGIUM TERROR - Belgian police have arrested 7 people suspected of supporting Islamic State and plotting a terrorist attack. Almost all the suspects are ethnic Chechens. Police raided 9 addresses in several towns in western Belgium yesterday. Eric van Duyse, a spokesperson for the federal prosecutor’s office said the group intended to target an institution located in Belgium.

UK CORONATION - Britain's first coronation in 70 years takes place tomorrow, with Charles III crowned king in an elaborate Christian ceremony steeped in solemn ritual and more than a millennium of history. The coronation, the first of a British king since 1937, is the religious confirmation of his accession after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, last September. The presidents of France and Germany and senior EU leaders will be among the 2,300 guests attending, along with global royalty.

SHEERAN COPYRIGHT - Ed Sheeran has won his copyright trial, in which he fought allegations that he stole parts of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" for his 2014 hit. The jury found that Sheeran independently created his song. Sheeran later said he is happy with the outcome of the case and added that it looks like he does not have to retire from his day job, after all.

FOOTBALL - Neapolitans are celebrating in the street after the Italian city’s football team Napoli secured their first league title in over 30 years, after a 1-1 draw against Udinese. Some 55,000 fans watched the match on the big screen in the Stadio Maradona. It was under the leadership of Maradona,  that Napoli won its first Scudetto in 1987 and its second in 1990.

CYCLING - World champion Remco Evenepoel will be in the spotlight on Saturday as the Giro d'Italia embarks from the Adriatic coast for a 21-day tussle across 3,489 kilometres of fearsome peaks and picture postcard panoramas. The 23-year-old Belgian looks to be the man to beat, but he will need to outwit and overpower former Grand Tour winners Slovenian Primoz Roglic as well as Britons Geraint Thomas and Tao Geoghegan Hart, all of whom have ambitions of pulling on the winner's pink jersey in Rome on May 28.

FORMULA 1 – This weekend sees the Miami Grand Prix taking off. Tonight are the first two training sessions, which you can follow live on rtl.lu from 8 pm onwards.

Weather

It looks like another nice day to start off the weekend. There might be the odd shower in the afternoon, but it should be pretty sunny throughout. Morning temperatures of 9-11°C will rise towards  19-21°C in the afternoon.
