The investigation into the murder and dismembering of a young woman in Mont-Saint-Martin, a few kilometres from the Luxembourgish border, continues with a new attempt to identify the remains of the victim.
The decapitated body of the woman was found behind a supermarket on Monday. So far, French authorities have not been able to determine the identity of the victim, who, according to the prosecutor in charge of the case, was aged 25 to 30 at the time of her death.
During the autopsy of the body, no traces of firearm wounds were found. The same goes for injuries inflicted with sharp objects or sexual mistreatment. Nevertheless, investigators did conclude that the victim's body had been dismembered in a location different from the one where she was found.
Authorities currently believe that the woman could have been a prostitute from Luxembourg or Belgium, which has led to the hypothesis of a femicide.
Authorities now hope to identify the woman by releasing details about her piercings and tattoos. She had a naval piercing and two tattoos. The one on her right groin said "Kiko" while she had another on her lower back of a rose and a dagger.
People who believe themselves able of identifying the woman with the help of this information are advised to contact French authorities under the following number: 0390 23 13 00.
