
The perpetrator of an attack which left five people dead in December 2020 was sentenced in court on Tuesday afternoon.
The trial, which began in August 2021, concluded on Tuesday afternoon after almost a year of deliberations.
The perpetrator's defence team pleaded incompetence, claiming the 52-year-old man suffered from paranoid schizophrenia.The defendant refused to testify to the facts during the entire process, and declined to utter a single word, even on the last day of the trial. Only once did he make an exception, on day 37 of the trial, at which point he agreed it was sufficient for a psychologist to discuss his personality in detail in court.Early on Tuesday afternoon, the verdict was determined: the defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment in a closed psychiatric ward, for counts of murder and attempted murder.
