The Swedish island of Gotland has hired a troupe of troop (well, troupe) of medieval knights to safeguard against the spread of covid-19.
Gotland is a highly popular tourist destination in Sweden during the summer months, with its beaches and towns often packed with visitors from around the country and indeed the world. Naturally that is cause for some concern this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic - so the region has taken a novel approach to keep the virus at bay. Medieval knights.
Armed with lances, the knights will engage the virus in head-to-head combat... Well, no not really. The knights will patrol popular hotspots spreading the message that we are all in this together, encouraging holidaymakers to take responsibility to ensure they minimise the risk of the virus spreading.
