The Chief Medical Officer of Scotland, Catherine Calderwood, has refused to resign after pictures of her visiting her second home were published by the Scottish Sun.

The obstetrician has been the face of Scottish efforts to reduce the spread of coronavirus, repeatedly calling on people to avoid all non-essential travel to protect the NHS and save lives.

Despite her official advice, Calderwood was pictured in Earlsferry on Saturday, about an hour's drive from her main residence in Edinburgh.
