
The news was confirmed by Education Secretary Gavin Williamson in the House of Commons on Wednesday afternoon.
However, Prime Minister Boris Johnson declared that some schools will remain open for the country’s most vulnerable children, and for the children of health workers, police officers and delivery drivers, whose efforts are needed to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
It was also announced that A Levels and GCSEs would be cancelled for this year.
The UK’s decision leaves Belarus as the last country in Europe that has not yet shuttered its educational establishments.
