The spine-chilling incident took place in the ski resort of Verbiers in Switzerland.
Victor Liebenguth, a professional snowboarder and local, told media that he British tourist was skiing off-piste on 30 January when she was buried by snow in an avalanche.
He posted footage of the harrowing rescue on his Instagram page as a warning to others. He wrote: “Thursday 30th of January was a hard day, almost one meter of powder landed on a four weeks dry terrain, the avalanche risk was so high.”
“Unfortunately two girls were snowboarding in the middle of the face and the avalanche hit them so hard,” he added.
A second woman was also hit by the avalanche and rescued shortly later.
The Verbier Ski Resort had reportedly posted an avalanche warning on the same day. It highlighted that snowboarding or skiing off-piste “requires strong knowledge of conditions, terrain and great experience in risk assessment.”
