The tornado which devastated the Luxembourg municipalities of Bascharage and Pétange on Friday also crossed the French border.

Friday's tornado which devastated southern parts of the Grand Duchy also caused damage across the French border, particularly Meuthe-et-Moselle.

According to reports, Longwy, Herserange and Saulnes were affected by the storm, with around 60 fire fighters called out on Friday.

Two rooftops were ripped off by gusts of wind in ue de Liège in Herserange. Other houses suffered damage in the neighbouring communities.

AFP confirmed that winds exceeding 150 km/h were recorded at around 6pm in the north of the Moselle department. This is around the same time that the tornado formed over Bascharage and Pétange.
