Hurricane “Wiebke” ripped through Europe and Luxembourg 30 years ago. Winds reached destructive speeds between 130 and 200 km/h.

In Luxembourg, the hurricane tore off roofs of buildings, damaged cars, and destroyed entire forests. A number of other violent storms took place the same year, including storm Vivian and storm Daria.

One person lost their life during a storm in Luxembourg in January 1990. In Europe, the death toll amounted to 200 people.
