The victim had left his parents’ home last Tuesday evening in Trieux and had not been heard from since. The local gendarmerie brigade opened an investigation into a worrying disappearance and launched the search as soon as the alert was given.
The description of the young man had been widely reported in local media.
On Sunday, the hiker who discovered the lifeless body of the victim immediately alerted the authorities who deployed a large number of units, including a helicopter from Metz and criminal identification technicians from Nancy. The mayor of Trieux also visited the site to confirm the identity of the deceased.
The Deputy Public Prosecutor of Val de Briey explained to colleagues from Républicain Lorrain “that it was now a matter of establishing the victim’s schedule since his disappearance and determining the causes of death”.
For the moment, the investigators have not ruled out any leads.
