This was confirmed by RTL reporters present at the event. MP Laurent Zeimet recently took over as leader of the Christian Social People’s Party’s parliamentary faction, following Marc Spautz, who moved on to serve as Minister of Labour.

Laurent Zeimet has been the mayor of Bettembourg since 2011. RTL sources indicate that councillor Jean-Marie Jans could be his successor. Bettembourg is currently governed by a three-party coalition consisting of the CSV, the Greens, and the DP.
