According to police, a break-in was reported at 5.30am last Wednesday at a residence in Bivange/Roeser.

Officers responding to the call found a female intruder hiding under a bed. She was taken to the police station, but did not have proof of her identity and so was released with a caution.

Five hours later, a second break-in was reported at the same address. Police discovered the same woman had re-entered the unoccupied house through a broken window. This time, the prosecutor's office ordered her arrest, and she was brought to Schrassig prison.

Further burglaries over the weekend

Thieves broke into an unfinished residence in Merl on Route de Longwy, stealing building equipment and tools from the construction site.

More building equipment was stolen on Rue Johny Flick in Merl over the weekend as well.

A digger was targeted at a construction site in Dommeldange on Route d'Echternach, with thieves breaking open the petrol cap and stealing the contents.

On Monday morning, a house on Sentier de la Scierie in Dommeldange was reported to be on fire. According to reports, the house had been broken into. Police have not ruled out arson. The fire was quickly brought under control and did not spread to neighbouring homes.

Further houses were broken into on Monday morning, with one incident in Bettembourg on Rue de la Libération and another in Rodange on A la Croix St. Pierre. Both targets were family homes.
