The internet is full of stories from around the world of people earning money or making fortunes doing the strangest things.
Mail from Santa Claus
Bryan Reese, for example, got himself an address in North Pole, a real town in Alaska, and started the website SantaMail.org. Through the website, parents can pay for their children to receive a personalised letter from Santa, complete with a postmark and stamp from ‘the’ North Pole. Reese has made millions.
The perfect pet
Gary Dahl became a millionaire by selling stones. He doesn’t have a construction company, but instead cleverly marketed the stone as the perfect pet. A pet that doesn’t create waste, doesn’t need to be fed and doesn’t cost much. Dahl sold the stones for almost $4 a piece, proving that sometimes you don’t have to look far to find your $1 million idea.
1,500 euros for bath water?
Rapper Ruby Nikara sold jars full of her bath water on the internet, with each jar going for at least 1,500 euros. The 21-year-old also sells underwear she’s worn for just a few hours, with each buyer forking out 100 euros. “And they sell like hot cakes,” Ruby Nikara said in an interview.
Not every business will make you a millionaire, but sometimes it’s just about earning a little extra money. Some earn extra cash by distributing brochures or newspapers. Babysitting, dog walking and tutoring are also very popular side hustles. For those who prefer a more unconventional approach, the internet has many advantages, with a lot of money to be earned on the World Wide Web.
Buying and selling shares or cryptocurrencies is seen as a normal activity in this day and age. There are also various portals that will pay users to take part in surveys or to test products.
Others can try their luck on social media, earning money with clicks and influencer marketing.
You can always buy and sell limited edition clothes or complete homework and write essays for strangers, all for a fee of course.
Another idea is to simply sell photos and videos. In addition to pornographic platforms, there are a variety of databases where you can upload neutral photos and cash in if someone purchases the photo.
On the topic of photos, there is now a massive market for feet pics online. The next and much better paid step would be wearing socks and/or underwear, which in turn can sell for upwards of 30 euros each.
Now it’s YOUR turn. Do you have an unconventional way to earn some money on the side? Maybe you even do it full-time? Join in and share your story, and if you leave your details, we may just get in touch with you.
