This question was asked by déi Gréng MP and municipal councillor from Bettembourg Josée Lorsché in the context of a parliamentary inquiry. Since the build-up to the project has already turned out costly, with numerous environmental studies being conducted around the area, she wanted to know who would be financing these operations.
It has been four years since the Greek dairy producer announced the construction of a factory in Luxembourg. Lorsché also remains critical of the fact that the land was sold to Fage without them having the proper authorisation to build a dairy factory in that area, which the company still does not have.
Lorsché therefore argued that the land could have been offered to more sustainable companies, whose policies would have caused fewer reasons for environmental concerns.
