The average budget in Luxembourg falls between €304 and €361 per month to meet the basic needs of a child aged 0 to 6 years, according to the report which was published on Thursday morning. The national statistics institute indicated that the budget increases with age. According to Statec , the budget peaks at the age of 18 months (361 euros).
The press release attributed this to the fact that an 18-month-old requires certain specific food products which are no longer needed for older children.
The report also noted that no matter the age of the child, food always took up the majority of the budget. Infant formula can cost between €75 and €130 per month.
Finally, nappies also make up a large percentage of the budget, costing around €68 per month.
