Amongst other thing cafes, restaurants and gyms will remain closed. In addition, restrictions have been tightened in shopping centres. People will no longer be allowed to drink or eat take-aways on the premises.

RTL’s Frank Elsen set out on Saturday to discover people’s opinions on the subject in the Cloche d’Or shopping centre.

This particular shopping centre had already taken additional steps to protect its customers.

Besides insisting on mandatory face coverings and providing disinfectant as well as displaying large information boards, the management introduced a system to keep track of how many people enter the premises.

The flow of customers is regulated by a screen at the entrance, and if maximum capacity is reached, people are asked to wait. Another measure that has been in place for some time aims at ensuring that social distancing is kept (one person per 10 square metres). For reference, the shopping centre Cloche d’Or comprises of 75,000 square metres.

The government has highlighted that shopping is not considered a leisure activity, encouraging people to finish their shopping swiftly and to do so alone.

With these measures in mind, we wanted to inquire if people felt safe. Respondents were largely torn on the recommendations.
