The Young GreensWe can encourage other countries by keeping our own standards high, says Tanja Duprez

RTL Today
The spokesperson for the Young Greens talked to our colleagues on RTL Radio on Tuesday morning.

COP26 must be used to redefine our goals and ambitions, Duprez underlined during the interview: “If we keep our own standards high, we will encourage other countries to do the same thing.” She believes that Luxembourg is already setting a good example with its development of the transportation sector, but also emphasised that concrete goals are needed across the board to make an impact.

When it comes to party-internal differences between the main and the youth fraction of the Greens, Duprez addressed the stalled legalisation of cannabis as one point of contention. The Young Greens are disappointed that no decisive step away from the repressive policies is being made and that the coalition agreement is not being respected.

Asked about the potential referendum over the constitutional reform, the spokesperson for the Young Greens promised their support if the 25,000 signatures are reached. Duprez herself did not explicitly argue in favour of a referendum, but rather underlined that biodiversity and housing should be included in the reform.
