You have until midnight on 28 December to decide who will be the Luxembourger of the Year 2023. There will be one winner for each category and from now on you can now vote for them right here!

We will announce the names of the Luxembourgers of the Year 2023 on 1 January 2024!

Female candidates

Elisabeth Bauer


Elisabeth Bauer’s daughter Amy has a rare genetic defect. In an RTL report, the mother shared her everyday life with the public to raise awareness of SCN2A and other people in a similar situation.

Vicky Braas


Vicky Braas is strongly committed to Echternach. Together with two friends, she founded a food sharing service here to give good food a second chance. She also regularly reads to children and campaigns for greater sustainability.

Laly Chivard


Laly Chivard is a young woman who is involved in many projects. She was on the Dudelange Youth Council for three years, took part in the European Youth Parliament in Luxembourg for two years and is currently Vice-President of the CNEL. Laly Chivard is also a UNICEF ambassador and has participated in the “Schwätz mat! Parlons jeunesse! Let’s Talk young!” project by Okaju.

Antonella De Luca


Antonella De Luca is the President of the non-profit organisation Lux-Lagos Asbl. After adopting her son from Lagos, she wanted to give hope for a better future to other children in Nigeria. Thanks to sponsorship from Luxembourg, the children in Lagos are given access to private schools.

Ehis Etute


Ehis Eute is no stranger to basketball fans. The young woman currently plays for T71 Dudelangeand caught the eye with her talent in the summer. In the future, the Luxembourger will head to the USA. She has signed a contract with the Oregon Ducks and is regarded as a role model, especially among young athletes.

Päivi Kauffmann


Päivi Kauffmann is a musician, flautist and teacher at the Esch Conservatory. She is committed to both the integration of refugees and cultural exchange. Her musical projects together with the Philharmonic Orchestra stand for the social and cultural inclusion of students from all countries.

Carmella Klestadt


Carmella Kleestadt has been working as a psychologist and psychotherapist in youth and drug counselling for more than 20 years. Here she looks after people with drug and addiction problems and also supports those in their environment. Empathy, respect and neutrality are particularly important to Carmella Kleestadt.

Jakkie Paulus

Jakkie Paulus is a dedicated educator who works with young people in need. She has also been a volunteer in the CGDIS psychological support group for 10 years. Here she is involved in any operation or incident where people need psychological support quickly.

Dinah Reuland


It was actually just a check-up, but Dinah Reuland received a terrible diagnosis this spring. Something was found - breast cancer. She also has narcolepsy and multiple sclerosis. The woman therefore decided to have both breasts amputated. But Dinah Reuland did not let it get her down, she remained positive and used her courage on social media to motivate other people in their fight against cancer.

Male candidates

Aly Biver


For more than 40 years, Aly Biver has put his heart and soul into the music club of Mondercange. After the club almost disappeared in the 90s, he rebuilt the it. Since then, he has looked after the room, looked after the instruments, looked after the musicians and even played the first trumpet himself.

Luc Holtz

After 11 years on the pitch for the Red Lions himself, Luc Holtz has been the coach of the men’s national football team since 2010. In 2023, he and his team collected more points in the European Championship qualifiers than ever before in a single season.

Georges Klepper


Georges Klepper was diagnosed with ALS in 2015 and can no longer move his limbs. He uses a special computer controlled by his eyes to speak. To avoid spending his time in front of the television, mentally fit Kepper who is passionate about sports, wrote a book about Luxembourgish sport. He worked hard, accepted setbacks and never gave up, which really encouraged other people around him.

Mike Krack


Mike Krack is at home in Formula 1. The Luxembourger is team manager of Aston Martin and finished fifth in this F1 season together with Fernando Alonso.

Gilles Martin


Gilles Martin is head of the intensive care unit at Ettelbrück hospital and is also involved in the CGDIS, where he is active in both Housen and Kiischpelt, as well as in the scouts.

Joe Muñoz


Joe Muñoz is an artist and teacher from Luxembourg who is particularly well known among children and in schools for his ‘Munis’ figures. The painted ‘Munis’ are themed and repainted in schools. Joe Muñoz will donate part of his proceeds to charity.

David Pensé


David Pensé has worked as a social pedagogue for most of his life and has mainly travelled around schools. In 2015, he began teaching pedagogy at the Ecole Nationale pour adultes. True to the motto “Close to the students” and with all his heart, David Pensé always had an open ear for his students, which they appreciated so much that the man was named Luxembourger of the Year for them.

Steve Schneider


It all began with the desire to bring joy to a child whose parents have no money for a Christmas present. The idea quickly found supporters. Three years later, Steve Schneider founded the non-profit organisation Tam-Tam White and Friends, and has been collecting donations to help poor families have a wonderful Christmas ever since.

Stanko


Stevan Stankovic, known as Stanko, has a stall on the Schueberfouer, an electrical company and still works for the CGDIS at weekends. This summer, he became a hero to many people because he acted immediately when a woman gave birth to a baby in a toilet. He immediately took care of the baby until the CGDIS team took over.

Pit Van Rjiswijck


In 2020, Pit van Rijswijck’s father was diagnosed with a brain tumour, from which he died within just two months. To support research, Pit van Rijswijck launched “Running against Cancer”. For his fundraising campaign, he ran seven marathons on all seven continents within a week.
