New municipal bordersVillage of Kalkesbach to join municipality of Berdorf

RTL Today
The municipalities of Berdorf and Consdorf have agreed to swap some terrain.

It is rather rare that municipal borders are redrawn. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced that the village of Kalkesbach will from now on be located entirely in Berdorf. Currently, the village is still split in two and is part of both Berdorf and Consdorf. This means that both municipalities have to manage the local infrastructure.

Both municipalities recently agreed to redraw their municipal borders. Specifically, Berdorf will cede a surface area of 338.7 ares to Consdorf and in return, Consdorf will cede 347.93 ares to Berdorf. This trade would, among other things, significantly simplify the local waste and water management.

The respective municipal councils approved the deal in autumn of 2021. The draft bill still has to be approved by the Chamber of Deputies.
