
The centre of the village is to become a shared space, with buses diverted to the periphery and speeds limited to 20kph. Commuters from the north of the country will be discouraged from using Steinsel as a route into the capital.
The population of the municipality, which includes Heisdorf and Mullendorf, is expected to rise from 5,000 to 7,200 by 2027. To accommodate this, new infrastructure is needed.
The ambitious project will be launched with the construction of the underground car park, followed by the extension of the town hall. This should be finished by January 2023.
Residents, who have been kept informed by the council, are generally excited about the new developments.
